Days for Girls Aust

Tuesday 1 April 2025: This new video and audio podcast has Mary Connelly-Gale updating us about Days for Girls Australia.

There is an increased need to tackle period poverty in all parts of the world. Not being able to afford period pads or other options because of the increasing costs of the products and the cost of living crisis is why Days for Girls Australia continues their volunteer work.

The period pod is part of each pack each team both fundraises to have the materials to sew these kits and to also distribute these kits to people who need them.

Period poverty is a silent part of all societies and in this podcast, Mary refers to The Bloody Big Survey 2024 commissioned by Share the Dignity

Education is a big part of both the quality control of the Days for Girls kits and providing menstral cycle and reproductive education to all parts of the community.

The safety of vulnerable people is also taught as part of their education program.

This podcast contains a lot of sensitive information for both listeners and viewers.

Days for Girls Australia is a registered Australian not for profit and is a Country Affiliate with Days for Girls International. Volunteers across Australia mobilize to increase access to menstrual products and vital health information for women and girls around the world.

The team behind Days for Girls Australia are all voluntary roles.

All donations to Days for Girls Australia are tax deductable.

Gloria Buttsworth, Founding Director

From early beginnings as the leader of the Newcastle Chapter, then NSW Coordinator, Gloria saw DfG ‘go viral’ across Australia as more and more people responded to the need for sanitary hygiene for projects they were involved with across the world. Seeing the growth of T & C, gaining company status and tax deductibility – it has been a journey she never imagined. All this grew from an initial intent to sew Kits for a friend in Uganda. For her work in establishing DfG in Australia, Gloria was awarded Rotary International’s Paul Harris Fellow Award.
